Description
Yamaha MG06X is a neat little console with some easy-to-use effects on board.
If you’re looking for a small format analogue console, MG06X ticks off the list of features with ease.
There are two microphone inputs (global phantom power button), with plenty of gain, high and low eq, and an effects send button for each mic channel (more on that later).
The two mic channels have got a pad, so you can stick a line level input into the ‘jack’ part of the Neutrik combi connector, if that’s what you need.
Part of the space saving comes from the two stereo channels having just a volume control. No eq, no balance control, no effect switch. Just volume (which is basic, but all that is needed in many cases).
Effects – you get a choice of 6 effects in total.. Reverb: Hall, Room, Plate; and Delay: Short, Long, Vocal Echo
There’s also a headphone output, with volume control.
Summary: MG06X is a great little desk. The user manual (pamphlet) is easy to read, and perfect for a simple setup. Oh…the downside of such a small console? There’s a power pack “wall wart” to supply the 12V, rather than an internal power supply that simply takes an IEC cable. It’s a small trade-off, for such a compact solution
