Genelec 8320AP is the smallest (4″ woofer) member of the SAM™ smart active 2-way monitor series.
Before we get to the SAM™ (Smart Active Monitoring) features included, let’s look at why the 8320A looks so much like the 8000 series 8020D.
They both have on board Class D amplification, with 50w going to the 4″ woofer and 50w powering the 3/4″ metal dome tweeter. Both enclosures are the same size (super compact), and both ship with ‘Iso-Pod’ (allowing for accurate placement and anti-vibration).
The big difference here with 8320A, is that there are no dip-switches to allow for room control (bass roll-off, treble control, desktop compensation, etc). This is done entirely via GLM – Genelec Loudspeaker Management software, so you’ll need to initially calibrate your monitors and room using the GLM Kit.
GLM software is a highly intuitive and powerful monitor control networking system that manages connectivity to all SAM studio monitors and subwoofers on your network. The software allows adjustment of levels, distance delays and flexible room response compensation equalisation with the state-of-the-art and robust AutoCal™ automated calibration system. All parameters and settings are stored in system setup files or saved in each individual monitor or subwoofer if the GLM network needs to be disconnected.
