Voodoo VR1 passive ribbon microphone is small, but packs quite the sonic punch for a variety of studio situations.
Don’t be fooled by the over-sized box it comes in, VR1 is compact. Most of the shipping box is used to house the stylish suspension cradle.
VR1 delivers open and natural recording of acoustic instruments, and are a favoured mic for guitar cabs.
Whilst we’re not privy to the inner workings of sE Electronics, there’s obviously some kind of Voodoo in the Voodoo VR1. Well, that’s what we read between the lines from sE:
"With the Voodoo mics, full frequency response is achieved using a clever mechanical device designed by Siwei Zou, the company CEO, and a hand-tensioned ribbon constructed by our highly specialized technicians in sE's capsule room"
Sounds like Voodoo to us.
Plug one in - VR1 is a passive ribbon (but there is protection there, in case you accidently engage phantom power), to "bring out the bite and edge from your guitar cabs with no muddy highs"
